Modeling

Shaping a mesh by manipulating its components in Edit Mode.

Modeling is the process of manipulating vertices, edges, and faces in Edit Mode to build a shape. The three basic operations behind nearly everything are move, rotate, and scale (G, R, and S in Blender), combined with tools like extrude, bevel, and loop cuts.
