Artist Spotlight: Bhushan Jagtap

A spotlight on 3D artist Bhushan Jagtap, a master of clean SubD modeling and an invaluable collaborator on multiple projects.

I’ve worked with Bhushan on a number of projects over the years. I think the first time I hired him was back in 2019 or 2020. I was managing 3D at a furniture company and we needed someone to model clean SubD furniture that exactly matched product reference. This is nothing against any other artists I worked with at that time, but Bhushan was something special. He very rarely needed revision rounds to get the product accurate, and his topology was always top-notch. Something I found myself learning a lot from studying. Fast forward to today, and Bhushan is one of my go-to freelance artists. I hire him for everything! From complex models to simple stuff I know he can turn around quickly.

Clean SubD modeling is an art. It’s something I’m still learning more about, but Bhushan has mastered it.

He’s incredible at matching reference, even when that reference is scarce (like the Cintique tablet modeling project I included below. I couldn’t get a cintique to him in time for reference, so he modeled with great accuracy from just a few photos). I’ve handed him minimal direction before and gotten back exactly what the project needed , sometimes better than what I had in mind. He’s creative and takes initiative when I need him to fill in the gaps and make decisions for himself, which is a rare and valuable quality in a collaborator.
